We're lovin it!

The basement is finished! (Well, except for the bathroom) We are all lovin it! I am so proud of Chris and his determination to do so much of it himself. He did an amazing job! Here are some pictures, but just know that the "after" pictures don't do it justice. You'll just have to come visit and see for yourself! This picture is to prove that I helped where I could (i.e. sweeping and painting). It is also to show the "before" of how Chris took an old brown bookshelf and put it in the doorway of our storage room and added hinges and a wheel and made it look like a built in bookcase, but really it is our hidden doorway.

Here is the after!

This is how it looks open. Chris has always wanted to make something like this and he did it!

Even Madison helped paint baseboards!

Here is our family room/Theater room! Of course it is wired for surround sound...this is Chris we are talking about!

Here is a little play room for the kids complete with an automatic light that comes on when they go in and goes off after awhile instead of me having to crawl in there to turn it off...Chris has thought of everything! They have already done a puppet show for us in the little windows and we expect many more to come. We have 2 bedrooms and the office down here as well. The girls have already moved downstairs and love their new room.

Oh, how I miss basements! No such thing in Florida. However, I'm sure we could put Chris to work building us doors and playrooms in our house if he felt like he needed more work. :-)

Seriously, it looks wonderful. Great work!

Wow. Cal says he wants to come visit to try out your hidden door and kids area. I think he's really drooling over the theater and surround sound. :) Your work skills and patience amaze me! We will have to come visit when we head back up that way in a few months. I'll bet you're excited to have it done before baby #4 shows up. Phew!

Heather! Long time! How are you? Congrats on baby...number4! Wow, you are amazing!!! It was so fun seeing you this Christmas...I've always loved your laugh and it was so fun to hear it again! Your basement is so awesome...does Chris want to do contract work...and come make a theater room for us? :) I love blogs and now we can keep better tabs! Love ya!

Hidden doorways rock. Since I was a kid I've always wanted some kind of secret passage in my home. That probably isn't going to happen though. I have to be careful how many nerdy things like that I do, Cassidy is still finding out just how much of a nerd she married after 6 years of marriage. I didn't want to overcome her all at once, these things require caution.
